About

The idea of the Intercontinental Music Competition for Youth – European Stage - Vienna is to open the world of music by living composers to young performers and audiences, and to create a platform where new music can be discovered, performed and heard.

The competition is structured as a musical journey:
-  in the first round participants perform works by composers of the past
- in the second round works by living composers.

The winners of the competition are invited to perform at the Final Gala Concerts in Vienna in the historic Ehrbar Saal. The Gala Concerts include both solo performances and a special concert with orchestra, where selected winners of the category “Piano with orchestra” perform with the Ehrphilharmonie Wien.

In this way, the competition brings the music of living composers to the historic stage of the Ehrbar Saal in Vienna - a city at the heart of Europe’s musical tradition. For young musicians, performing the music of our time in this historic hall is not just a concert, but a unique artistic and cultural experience.

For us, the competition is about high-quality performance, artistic development and the discovery of new repertoire.
